Frequently Asked Questions

HOW FAR IN ADVANCED SHOULD I BOOK MY WEDDING DAY MAKEUP AND HAIR SERVICES?

Weddings can be booked up to a year in advance and no later than 3 months to ensure your date. However, if you are in a pinch, let your artist know, as accommodations can be arranged.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK FOR MY MAKEUP AND HAIR TRIALS?

Trial runs should be booked 3-5 months in advance. It is recommended to book your trial on a day you have nothing else going on so that you receive 100% attention without the feeling of being rushed and having your mind on something else or take advantage of your look by booking it on upcoming celebrations such as bridal showers, engagement shoots, and bachelorettes.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY HAIR AND SKIN FOR THE TRIAL?

The bride’s hair should be clean and completely dry (washed the night before) in order to have the hair set properly. Brides should moisturize their skin prior to the Trial Run; this will enable the makeup to go on smoother and last longer. Please do not receive a facial or wax your brows and/or face closer than 5 days prior to the event. It’s very important not to have any facial waxing done during the week of your makeup appointment. This is because waxing affects the consistency of the makeup and can end up looking patchy in the areas that have been waxed.

HOW LONG DOES A BRIDAL TRIAL RUN LAST?

An average of 2 hours or so.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A TRIAL RUN?

The bride will discuss different looks and the details of the wedding with the artist, such as dress color, wedding color palette, and overall theme. The bride will receive a complete makeup and hair service. Please bring your veil and headpiece if you have purchased it.

BESIDES BRINGING MY HEADPIECE AND VEIL TO THE TRIAL RUN, DO I NEED ANYTHING ELSE?

It's recommended that the bride bring in photos of makeup and hair ideas for the wedding day. Check out SkyesArtistry's Vision Board for Makeup and Hair ideas.

DO YOU OFFER IN-HOME SERVICES FOR MY WEDDING DAY MAKEUP AND HAIR?

Yes, absolutely! Keep in mind, due to the limited space available in the studio, the bride may only bring one guest.

HOW DO I BOOK BRIDAL SERVICES?

All bridal service bookings are treated with a little extra TLC. Please contact by email through SkyesArtistry's contact page for more information. Consultations can also be arranged.

WHAT IF I HAVE SHORT HAIR AND WANT IT TO LOOK LONGER, WHAT CAN I DO?

It's recommended to purchase clip-in extensions to best achieve your desired look. If you are unsure, that’s ok, your hair artist will discuss it with you at your trial and make some recommendations. SkyesArtistry can style both clip-in extensions or any type of permanent extensions ie. bead, sewn-in, etc. as long as it is real hair.

WHY IS THE BRIDES MAKEUP AND HAIR MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE BRIDAL PARTY?

More time and attention is spent with the bride from the very first day of contact, up until the day of the wedding. From phone calls, emails, contracts, and creating day-of schedules to the extra time spent getting the bride ready on her big day, placing her veil, additional touch-up time, and spending extra time on her hair & makeup, the focus is always on her. Since the bride is the main client, as it’s her wedding day, all of this is included in the price. Since it’s a group, the others are less, which, if the bride is paying for them too, saves her money. The artist has to earn a certain amount for blocking out the time it takes too. The costs are all the artist's own–time, education/skills, products, mileage, and general costs of running a small business. That’s why the charge may seem a higher rate in general.

IS THERE A DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO BOOK MY WEDDING?

Yes, 50% of the grand total is required to secure your artist for your big day.

HOW LONG WILL MY MAKEUP AND HAIR TAKE ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Typically a total of 2 hours is spent on the bride's hair & makeup. Bridesmaids will take about 45 minutes each unless someone has abnormally long or thick hair.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY WEDDING DAY MAKEUP AND HAIR?

Have everyone in the bridal party arrive with clean, dry hair and clean moisturized skin compatible for fresh makeup. If you have SPF in your moisturizer, it's recommend avoiding anything over 15 SPF to avoid the “white face” look in photos. Exfoliate your lips so that your lipstick will stick, and whiten those pearly white teeth so that your smile stands out in photos. On the day of, wear a robe or button-down shirt so that your hair will stay in place, and sit back, relax, and enjoy the pampering before you walk down the aisle.

ARE TOUCH-UPS INCLUDED FOR MY ENTIRE BRIDAL PARTY?

Yes! For every wedding, 15 minutes is blocked off before leaving to ensure that everyone looks perfect! Your artist will check for any loose pieces of hair or bobby pins while applying last-minute hairspray to make sure every strand of hair stays in place. Also, the artist will check for any smudges and apply powder or setting spray before leaving. Additional time is used for clean up and packing.

CAN MY BRIDAL PARTY ADD ANY ADDITIONAL SERVICES AFTER I HAVE ALREADY BOOKED?

Sometimes, there might be a member of your family or bridal party who asks if they can receive services on the day of, which is completely okay! All services that are added will be on a separate invoice/email and must be paid in the full amount.
