PREPARING FOR
YOUR
MAKEUP
APPOINTMENT
Whether you’ve had many makeovers or this is your first appointment, it’s important to follow a simple guideline to get the most out of your experience.
S K I N P R E P
Preparing your skin for makeup is the key to a flawless, smooth, long-lasting application.
A few months prior to the makeup application, specifically for weddings, it is recommended to start looking into skincare treatments with an esthetician to ensure your skin is flawless as can be on the day of your wedding. Beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin!
It’s important to note that you should not schedule any intense skincare appointments too close to your makeup appointment. These treatments include waxing, spray tans, laser, and microdermabrasion.
The week before
Cleanse and moisturize your face once morning and night. Exfoliate 2-3x a week to remove dead skin and dirt from pores. Drink lots of water throughout each day to keep skin looking hydrated and plump.
The night before
Cleanse face, gently exfoliate, and moisturize face. Make sure all traces of makeup are removed before sleeping.
The day of
Double cleanse your face and moisturize the skin as this will enable the makeup to go on smoother and last longer. If you have SPF in your moisturizer, we recommend avoiding anything over 15 SPF to avoid the “white face” look in photos and do not wear makeup (removing makeup will cut into your application time).

Next to prepping your skin, this is the second most important part of knowing how to best prepare for your makeup appointment. When planning your day, please keep in mind your makeup application can take up to an hour. If you’re attending an event please allow extra time afterwards for travel.

It is preferred that you provide a screenshot of the makeup you desire (Inspiration pics can be found on Pinterest) so that we can jump right into the appointment but not always necessary.
Sometimes it’s better to create a custom look that includes natural features, colors and personality rather than copying a photo. If you decide to look for inspirational pictures, try looking for people with similar faces as yours.

Preparing your lips properly before your appointment will help your lips look hydrated and plump while keeping your lipstick on all day. Use a lip scrub to exfoliate away dead flaky skin 2=3xs a week. After exfoliating, always apply a lip balm to moisturize.

It’s very important to not have any facial waxing done during the week of your makeup appointment. This is because waxing affects the consistency of the makeup and can end up looking patchy in the areas that have been waxed.
With these preparations in place, you’re ready to make the most out of your application. Sit back, relax and enjoy your personalized luxury makeup experience.
